Our customer asked:

I have an 11 year old Diabetic dog, she has a dry cracked nose, is Bag Balm ok to rub in. Just concerned in case she licks it or is there anything else you can suggest?

Our reply:

The Effol Bag Balm is intended for use on horses, though would should be perfectly safe to use on your dog's nose. Personally I would chooses Denes Skin Balm for your dog. Inevitably this will be licked off a bit, but you can try to rub it gently in for a while each time after application, and it should absorb into the skin.
