Is. there any evidence that suggests my newly diagnosed PPID horse might benefit form selenium supplementation? I not the liquid is molasses base and I have been told to avoid classes or anything high in carbohydrates
Selenium has multiple functions in the body, such as it's antioxidant effects, role in normal muscle structure and support of the immune system. Using a vitamin/mineral supplement including Selenium is a good idea for any horse and will benefit a horse with PPID. You are right to avoid supplements with sugar if your horse has PPID, which includes those that have molasses. The powder will be suitable though as this just contains the vitamins/minerals themselves.

Hi, my Quarter horse has suspected PSSM, is this a suitable supplement?
Thanks
Hi Alice,
Selenavite E would be a good supplement to add to your horses diet with PSSM. However I would suggest you tried something with more Vitamin E and Selenium. Something like the Equimins Vitamin E and Selenium product. Both these ingredients together to provide an increased amount of oxygen to the lungs, this in turn then helps the muscles, as a lack of oxygen to the muscles can cause your horse to 'tie up'. It also aids muscle cell resistance and limits muscular tension.
Going back to the Selenavite E, this does have Vitamin E and Selenium but not quite as high in strength, but it does have more vitamins in it which is also important with horses suffering from PSSM.
If you have any more questions in regards to these products or any more information about PSSM just let me know.

My 17.2 ISH has a mild Shiver, would you recommend this supplement for his condition? Ideally I want a supplement with a high enough Selenium and Vit E dosage but to also contain the everyday vits and minerals. Horse is currently fed a high fibre diet with added linseed. Thank you
This should be a suitable supplement to give, it contains a good range of nutrients as well as the Vitamin E and Selenium.
I would also recommend that you have a vet check your horse to check if anything else might be causing the symptoms you have noticed. The underlying problem might get worse, so it is best to make sure.

Hi my boy has been diagnosed with pyloric ulcers after the odd out of spasmodic colic. He is on dengue alpha a molasses free and was wondering if this supplement is ok to give him?
This product is a good, all round vitamin and mineral supplement and should be suitable for your horse. You might also consider products designed to help with gastric ulceration, such as Naff GastriAid. If in doubt, talk to your vet about this.

Hi,
My Mare is very overweight and prone to tying up, I am looking for the benefits of selenium but don't want her gaining any weight, Is the liquid suitable?
Regards
The energy content of this supplement is not high so weight gain is unlikely to be an issue, especially if you can use the powdered from. I think this should be a good supplement to give your horse
