Why Choose Drontal Cat Film-Coated Tablets for Large Cats?
Drontal Wormer XL Tablets for Cats kill every type of intestinal worm commonly found in UK cats, giving you peace of mind that you are helping keep internal parasites away from your pet and family.
Every cat can get worms – however soundly they’re sleeping. Cats with worms often won’t show any signs of a worm infection, but left untreated they can lead to serious health complications for you and your family. Drontal cat XL film-coated tablets are highly-effective and shaped to make worming easier for both you and your cat. You might not know if your cat has intestinal worms, but you can trust Drontal to help combat them.
INSTRUCTIONS
For single oral administration.
For cats 4-6kg = 1 tablet
For cats greater than 6kg, it may be more convenient to use Dronspot Spot On Wormer for Large Cats.
The tablets can be given directly, but if necessary, can be disguised in food.
How often should I worm my cat?
Research has shown that the majority of cats in the UK should be wormed monthly, based on their home environment and lifestyle such as scavenging, hunting, and spending time outdoors.* However, there may be situations where less frequent treatment is required and it’s best to speak to your vet about the most appropriate worming frequency for your cat.

The most affordable and safe dewormer outside of vet prescriptions.

These pills are quite pricey but they're also very tricky to give to the cats. They're covered in a thin film-like material which I peel off before squashing the tablet but the cats both hate the taste and refuse to eat their meals for 2 to 3 days. Can't the manufacturer add some cat mint or chicken flavour or something to make them more palatable?

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Drontal Wormer Tablets for Large Cats (Over 4kg), including answers from our team.
Rachael
I’ve read the dosage on the back and it says for cats over 6kg, but it’s says on the front suitable for over 4kg.
There’s quite a difference between 4 & 6kg.
This wormer is intended for use in cats over 4kg. it is dosed at 1 tablet per 6kg, so your 4.5kg cat would need one tablet.

We have adopted a large cat: 6.7kg. Do you think there is any difference between the effectiveness of the Drontal tablet (especially if given on the food) and the spot on Dronspot product. Giving cats tablets I know is difficult and we'd rather use the other product as he is a big ginger tom but we would try to give an oral medication if that was better.
Thanks for your help
Patricia
Dronspot and Drontal contain different active ingredients but they are both licensed and proven to treat the same types of intestinal worms. There should be no difference in efficacy between them because of this, it is advised to use whichever one is more convenient for you and your pet.
Sara
Do I need to retreat after an obvious worm infestation or does a single dose kill all worms? If I need to give second dose, when would I do this? Thanks in advance.
A single dose should be effective at clearing a worm infestation. If the worm burden is particularly high and you want to be certain it is cleared then treatment can be repeated 1 week later, however this is not usually necessary for most infections.
